Crochet is one of the handicrafts of Iran.
Crocheting in Iran dates back to 550 BC.
Crocheting is performed in three methodes:
simple crocheting
embossed crocheting
mosaic crocheting.
Several tools are used in this art including hook, fabric, thread, needle, scissor and etc.
There are four types of hooks with different materials such as steel, plastic, wooden and aluminum.
The metal hook with sharp tip with out any curvature is used in crocheting.
The fabric which is used in crocheting is usually high-quality mahout in black, dark blue, crimson, red and brown colors.
There are various threads with different materials in terms of color, thickness and durability.
As an illustration, one type of the thread is made from natural fibers that are taken from animal wool and plant tissue, such as linen, bamboo, cotton fibers.
And another type of thread is made with synthetic fibers such as acrylic, nylon, etc.
Natural and spun silk in different colors is also used in crocheting.
The art of crocheting is used for tablecloths, clothes such as hats, socks, gloves, bag, etc.
