
Mirror embroidery is one of the beautiful handicrafts of Iran.This art is mostly performed in Gorgan, Kurdistan, Hormozgan, Sistan and Baluchistan.
Sewing small round mirrors and sequins with different patterns on clothes with colored silk threads is called “mirror embroidery”. This art is sometimes used with other embroidery; Such as ajida embroidery, silk embroidery, braid embroidery.
The patterns are used in this embroidery like geometric motifs and flowers and bushes.
The mirrors which are used in this art have copper frame.
The oldest mirror embroidery dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries.
Some tools are used in this art such as mirror, fabric, silk thread, sequins and etc.
This art can be used to decorate local clothes, wall hangings, hat, hand bag, Quran cover, carpet and so on.

In Sistan and Baluchistan, the mirror is sometimes sewn on women’s clothes or men’s hats. Baloch women, sew a mirror on thier black clothes which is a symbol of sun in the desert. This art shows the lifestyle and geographical environment of their habitat.
