Sadsetun Palace

The second largest palace in Persepolis

Sadsetun Palace (hundred columns) or Talar Takht
It is located in the east of Apadana Palace. The most part of this palace has been destroyed by Alexander.
There were 100 columns in the central hall of this palace. This palace is the second largest palace in Persepolis.


In the southeast of this palace is an inscription in Babyli cuneiform which is indicated the construction of this palace was started by Xerxes in 470 BC and was completed by Ardeshir.
This palace consist of a large courtyard, halls, military warehouses and corridors.
The capitals which are in the northern porch of this palace are in the shape of human heads. There were 16 columns.
There wrer two rooms for soldiers on both sides of the palace. There is a statue of a cow’s head and neck on the northwest corner of these rooms.

On the eastern and western walls of the two northern gates the picture of king who is fighting with a lionwas carved.
