
Shapur Cave is one of the historical place in Fars province. It is located at the end of Tang Chogan andit is in four kilometers from the city in Kazron city which is the most important capital of the Sassanids.
Its height is about 800 meters above the ground, and the entrance of that is about 30 meters.
There is a statue of Shapur I, the second Sassanid king, at the entrance of this cave,which is dates back to 1700 years ago, that is why this cave is known as Shapur cave.
The height of Shapur statue is about 7 meters .
Two hands of thus statue are broken but its head is still intact.
There are two stone inscriptions in the entrance of this cave, one of them is the translation of Shapur’s inscription in Nagsh Rajab and the other inscription describes how the statue was rebuilt after 1000 years.
