In Islam, several instructions are given which are performed after the birth of a baby.
In Islam the azaan (call to prayer) is recited in the baby’s right ear and the qamat (second call to prayer) is recited in the left ear. This is done by the baby’s father or clergy man or other one, immediately after birth.
Parents donate the weight of baby’s hair in gold or monetary equivalent to charity and this is traditionally done on the seventh day after the baby’s birth or later.
The Aqiqah is carried out for the baby after birt. The Aqiqah is the sacrifice of an animal on the occasion of a child’s birth, which is performed by parents of the child. Usually the meat of the sacrifice is distributed among the poor.
